Yes, this book is the epitome of middle book syndrome. This combination, combined with pop culture spells, fan-fiction tropes, and excellent banter made this the stronger installment for me.
It hit various roadside attractions that people can actually visit on a trip of their own and the jokes about the Midwest were just on point. This embraced my love of road trips, Renaissance Faire’s, and over the top vampires. The first one was just so much fun, but this took it to another level for me. The story followed its inspiration a lot more closely than this one. I’m all for well-written, thinly veiled, Drarry fan-fiction. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Carry On.
